The Design and Construction Experience

design1.pngThe Design Process

The design process is the most critical phase of the entire project.  It is in this early stage where you decide the overall look and features to include in your poolscape, and create the vision you desire for your entire bckyard development.  Each design decision should be carefully considered with thought given to every detail of how the backyard will function when finished. This will ensure that no crucial factor is missed once the construction process is underway.  There are several key stages of the conceptual design process.  They include:

The Initial Consultation Meeting / Site Analysis

The process begins with our first site meeting at your home.  We look forward to the opportunity to meet with you in person, look over your backyard, learn about your family and lifesyle, and listen to your vision for your backyard. After this meeting, we will return to your home and spend a few hours performing a thorough site analysis of your existing backyard.  We consider the natural assets of the site and the existing limiations, determining how they will play into your expressed desires for the design.  Key concerns such as site elevations, slope from the house, drainage issues, and views to emphasize or screen are discovered and planned around.  We then take this information and prepare a CAD base plan on which to begin the conceptual design layout for your backyard.

design2.pngCreating the Concept Design

Once we have all of the necessary information together, we begin a series of design sketches to tie all the desired project elements together.  The design is conceptual in nature, providing a base solution for us to start with then discuss how your vision and the existing site come together into a functional solution.  We will also prepare a rough cost estimate based on the features and areas of the design, and prepare rendered design plans and 3-D graphic presentation materials to provide you a detailed visual understanding of the proposed backyard design.  Our goal is to provide you as much information as possible in order for you to make an informed decision about the details of your backyard development project.

The Concept Design Meeting

The next time we meet will be to review the design plans and presentation materials we have created.  This is the most important time we will get together to discuss your project.  Here we will review the design plan, the equipment and materials proposed for your project, the construction process and specifications, and the cost proposal for your development.  There may be elements of the design that you love, some that you may not like, ond others that are just different than what you had thought of before.  In a good design, there is a reason, or “why” behind every decision made, and we will explain the thought process behind each decision or selection.  Once you have reviewed the design and proposal, we will be happy to make any revisions or changes you may desire for your plan.  In the end, it is your backyard, your design, and a feature you are going to live with for a long time.  The finished product needs to meet your expectations for the future.

No Charge for Conceptual Design

All of the above planning and design process does represent a significant investment of time and effort by our team on your behalf.  We are happy to do this work because it is an intigral step in providing you a carefully considered, quality design plan beyond the scope that many other local pool companies provide.  For your benefit, we have made it a practice to provide all of these services to you at no obligation or cost.  We believe the work we put forth to date serves to earn your trust, creates a pattern of service that we follow throughout the construction processs, and establishes the basis for a long-term relationship we will have as your design, construction, and service provessional.

design3.pngThe Swimming Pool Tour

Even with the presentation graphics, site plans, and development information provided, many people do not fully understand what is being proposed until they can see it in person.  For this reason, we would like to schedule a pool tour in the days following our design review meeting.  Our past clients are very proud of their backyards, and many love the opportunity to show their pools to you.  It also provides a real-life example of several features we are proposing to you, and gives you a visual reference point to see the potential of what your backyard can become.  We would also like for you to meet some of our past clients when possible, and get their perspective on the entire design and construction experience.

The Contract Agreement / Preparing for Construction

Once a final conceputal design has been agreed upon, and you have had an opportunity to evaluate both your project and our company, we will prepare a construction contract agreement that sets the basis to begin the consruction process.  This agreement allows us to solidify your construction position in our schedule, and begin the pre-construction process.  We will also being pulling the necessary construction permits, meeting with community or homeowner’s associations for approvals, scheduling materials needed for the job, marking existing utilities, and
painting the design on the ground for your approval.  Once these items are completed, we are ready to begin the construction process.
